STEEL a new play presented by Theatrum Orbis Nov. 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 25, 26
A world premiere of provocative new play, STEEL by Chris Fisher, is presented by Theatrum Orbis November 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 25 at 7:30 PM; November 26 at 3 PM

STEEL explores how a suburban New Jersey family, safe from the problems of the world, is suddenly thrustas so many families were-- into the chaos and violence of September 11, 2001.  The collapse of the Twin Towers is an event that wounds so deeply, only profound silence lies in its wake as the family shields their young son, Walker, from the pain and secrets exposed that day.  But as he comes of age, Walkers questions break the silence that has torn his family, and community, apart.

Our understanding of what happened becomes our story. Our stories shape our identities: for a family, for a nation. They can also hobble us. When our stories of what happened collide, we may stop listening to each other. This play asks if we can start listening again.

Director Duygu Erdogan Monson was co-founder of an award-winning feminist theatre company in Istanbul, Tiyatro Boyali Kus (Theatre Painted Bird).
